Lelievre Gris de Toul, Cotes de Toul

$20.00

Once flourishing, Lorraine vineyards have been destroyed by 3 consecutive French-German wars: 1870, 1914 and 1939. In the early 1950's, a handful of talented winegrowers and winemakers, whose families have always lived in the area, decided to revive the appellation and replanted vines that could thrive in this very continental weather. 45 years later, vines are blossoming and the Cotes de Toul appellation is back on the map!

"the gray wine from Toul"

It is the specialty and emblematic wine of the Côtes de Toul appellation. Halfway between white and rosé, it represents almost 60% of the volumes produced at Maison LELIEVRE. Resulting from direct pressing of Gamay and Pinot Noir, the Toul Gray Wine is a true “Blanc de Noirs”. The absence of maceration with the skins differentiates it from a rosé wine. The two hours necessary for pressurization will be sufficient to give it a pink gold dress. Strawberry and raspberry fruit, its mouth is round and full with an elegant acidity and a pleasant lingering fruity finish. It goes perfectly with with Lorraine specialties such as quiches, and pâtés but also with crustaceans or spicy cuisines like Vietnamese or Thai.
